Dhaka Bar Association hold its annual election today (Wednesday).
Some 15,372 enrolled voters will elect their office bearers for the session 2015- 2016.
The two-day long voting will start from 9:00am to 5:00pm with a one hour break for lunch.
Two panels belonging to the Awami league-led 14-party, Sammilita Ainjibi Sammannay Parishad, commonly known as White panel and BNP-Jamaat led 20-party, Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikkya, commonly known as Blue panel are contesting the elections. Besides, another panel under the banner of Bangladesh Shanti Ainjibi Parishad also nominated candidates to a few posts.
Adv Masud Ahmed Talukhder and Adv Omar Farukh Faruqi are the candidates for the post of President and General Secretary respectively of the Blue panel, while Adv Saidur Rahman Manik and Adv Aybur Rahman are the candidates of the White panel for the post of President and General Secretary respectively.
A 86-member election committee-led by senior Adv SM Altaf Hossain will conduct the two-day long Dhaka Bar election.
