At least seven persons, including a journalist and a leader of ruling Awami League's student body Bangladesh Chhattra League (BCL), were injured in a crude bomb blast at Dhaka University's (DU) TSC on Sunday night.
The victims were identified as Joydev, 28, reporter of vernacular daily Samakal, Sheikh Russel, 28, Office Secretary of BCL, Mridul, 33, Section Officer of Jagannath University, Himu, 18, student of Northern University, Mantu, 35, a chatpati-stall owner at TSC, Shohel, 28, a BCL activist, and one Kashem, 33. The injured were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Inspector Mozammel Haque, In-Charge of DMCH police outpost, said miscreants set off the crude bomb at TSC around 9:20pm, leaving the seven injured.
Earlier, miscreants hurled cocktails targeting a DU bus in the city's Mirpur area in the morning, leaving bus driver Younus, 37, injured.
