CHITTAGONG, Feb 20: Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) will evict illegal canal occupants from the port city very soon.
CDA Chairman Abdus Salam said this while exchanging views with the residents of Gauchia Residential area at Hamzerbag under Panchliash thana in the city on Friday.
Earlier, Abdus Salam physically visited Hamzerbag canal and Tripura canal at the said area and ordered the illegal grabbers to remove their respective illegal structures from the canals as early as possible.
He warned the illegal occupants that CDA will evict these illegal structures from the canals if they failed to remove these in specific time. During his visit CDA Chairman saw that garbage filled up most of the canals of the said area side by side illegal occupants grabbed the canals after building structure.
Talking to journalists the CDA Chairman urged the people of all strata to save cannels, for the sake of Chittagong port as well as the country. He said the government under the leadership of Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina has decided to protect all cannels and river for reducing water logging in the low lying area in the country.     ?BSS
