Community Radio Meghna opens 15th station in Bhola

Our Correspondent BHOLA, Feb 18: Radio Meghna, the first community radio station in the country, has launched its 15th station in the district through a ceremony held at Brojo Mohan town hall in Charfession Upazila on Wednesday. Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, as chief guest inaugurated its transmission. Among others, Deputy Minister of Environment and Forest Abdullah Al Islam Jakob, MP, Information Secretary Murtaza Ahmed, Director General of Bangladesh Betar (Radio) Kazi Akhtaruddin Ahmed, Former MP Dr Akram Hossain, BNNRC Chief Executive Officer AHM Bazlur Rahman and Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Bhola Md Selim Reza spoke in the launching ceremony. According to source, the community Radio Meghna (98.4) will continuously broadcast programmes on diversified resources of the Bay of Bengal and in a bid to improve lives and livelihood of small fishermen and the small islanders. Coastal Association for Social Transformation (COAST) Trust initiated the community radio in the country. Presently, this radio is on-air and it is broadcasting programmes for two hours per day.
