BARISAL, Feb 13: Local people of Hizla upazila caught five robbers red-handed from the River Megna when they were committing dacoity in three sand-laden trawlers near Dhul Khola union at 7:30pm on Thursday.
The arrested persons are: Lokman Howlader (37), Monir Hossain (35), M. Nazim (38), Babul Howlader (23) and Alauddin (28); all of them hail from the village Habibpur under Mehendiganj upazila of the district. Gaurabdi Union Chairman Nazrul Islam Milon said, local people caught the dacoits from the river and later handed them over to Union Parishad. 
M. Shawkat Anwar, officer-in-charge of  Hizla police station, confirmed the incident and said they have brought the robbers under their custody.
