Our Correspondents At least two persons were killed and one was injured in road accidents in two districts - Jamalpur and Chuadanga on Friday and Thursday. JAMALPUR: A man was killed and another injured when a truck hit a battery-run auto-rickshaw at Beltia area in Jamalpur municipality on Friday morning. The deceased was identified as Arfan Hossain, 35, son of Helal Uddin of Charjotharthapur Uzanpara village in Jamalpur Sadar upazila. Driver of the vehicle Shagor, 20, and son of Tajul Islam of Kolurchar in Sadar upazila, is undergoing treatment at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital as he was critically injured. Sub-Inspector (SI) Joynal Abedin of Jamalpur Sadar police station, confirming the incident, said police detained the truck. CHUADANGA: An aged cattle trader was killed in a road accident at Ruddonagar village on Darshana-Mujibnagar road under Damurhuda upazila of the district on Thursday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Abdul Khaleq, 50, son of Abdul Jabber, resident of Kanchantola village under Damurhuda upazila. Eyewitness and Damurhuda police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) S.M. Kamruzzaman said Abdul Khalek was going to Utholi Shealmari cattle market from Karpashdanga for buying cattle by a human hauler (Alamshdhu) at 4pm on Thursday. Suddenly, a Ruddonagar-bound wood laden power tiller hit the vehicle from behind causing Abdul Khaleq fell on the road and he was killed on the spot. The driver of the power tiller managed to flee from the spot. On information, police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Chuadanga General Hospital morgue for an autopsy. A case was filed with Damurhuda police station in this connection.
