Truck helper killed in Rajshahi arson attack

A truck helper was killed and its driver injured in a petrol bomb attack on their lorry in Putia upazila here
on Thursday night.

The deceased was identified as Pintu, 27, son of Ahmed Hossain of Tangon area in Charghat upazila of the district.

Witnesses said miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at the Dhaka-bound goods-laden truck from Rajshahi at Belpukur, known as a danger point,
around 8:45pm. Pintu erupted in flames after the attack.

Panicked, he jumped off the truck onto the street. However, he was burned to death on the spot as he was unable to put out the blaze.
Truck driver Mithun, 45, of the same area received injuries in the incident.

Officer-in-charge of Putia Police Station (Investigation) Hafizur Rahman confirmed the incident, saying the blockaders hurled the
petrol bomb at the truck over a bridge.

The injured was whisked off to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
