The government on Wednesday made several changes at the offices of some senior officers in the civil administration including the secretary of the President's office.
The Ministry of Public Administration has issued several orders reshuffling their offices.
Planning Division Secretary Bhuiyan Shafiqul Islam was made the secretary to the President's office. He will replace its Senior Secretary Shaikh Altaf Ali, who started his post retirement leave (PRL) on January 29.
According to the Ministry, Shafiqul is a 1982 regular batch officer of the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) and a resident of Bagerhat district.
Earlier, he had served as chairman of the Rural Electrification Board (REB) and Director General of the Bangladesh Shilpakola Academy and the Department of Jute. He will start his PRL in January 2017.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Public Administration's Additional Secretary Begum Dilruba was promoted as secretary. She was made officer on special duty (OSD) at the same ministry after the promotion.
According to the Ministry, Dilruba will start her post retirement leave (PRL) from February 7, this year. She was promoted as secretary only days ahead of her PRL.
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare's Additional Secretary AN Shamsuddin Azad Chowdhury was made acting member of the Planning Commission with the status of an acting secretary while Planning Commission's acting Member Mohammad Shafiqul Azam was transferred to the Planning Division as acting secretary.
At the same time, OSD Additional Secretary Mustaq Hasan Md. Iftekhar was appointed the first chairman of the newly constituted Bangladesh Safe Food Authority (BSFA).
Earlier, the government appointed three members for the authority to start its function in January.
