The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) at its meeting on Wednesday approved four projects including appointing two consultant firms for drawing up a fresh 20-year Detailed Area Plan (DAP) of Dhaka city under the Dhaka Metropolitan Develop-ment Plan Area Project.
The CCGP meeting was held at the Secretariat in the capital.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith presided over it.  Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed and other members of the committee were also present in the meeting.
After the meeting, Joint Secretary of Cabinet Division Mustafizur Rahman said, "The Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) is preparing a fresh DAP covering an area of over 1,500 square kilometres involving Tk33 crore for the period between 2016 and 2035 as the tenure of the current DAP expires this year."
The purchase committee approved the proposal of RAJUK for appointing a joint venture of Sheltech (Pvt) Limited and The Decode Limited which will prepare the DAP for 753 square kilometre area while The Development Design Consultant Limited will work for 764 square kilometres, dividing the Dhaka city with a line drawn along the New Airport Road.
He said that the government would spend a total of Tk25.99 crore for appointing the two consultant firms. These two firms will get Tk12.5 crore each.
At present DAP suggested reclaiming over 2,500 acres of flood flow zones and agricultural land from the grip of unauthorised property developers and relocation of 3,000 industries and scrapping of 16 development projects. The first DAP was published in a gazette in June 2010.
