Rifts are going to be evident in the BNP, Food Minister Quamrul Islam said, adding the sensible leaders would soon come out of the leadership of Khaleda Zia.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a commemorative meeting marking the 10th death anniversary of former Finance Minister Shah AMS Kibria at Shilpakala Academy in the city. Organised by Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote, the meeting was presided over by eminent cultural personality Dr. Enamul Haq.
Quamrul, also the city AL Joint General Secretary, said, "Rifts in BNP now seems only a matter of time being, the day is not too far also. Sensible leaders would soon come out of the leadership of Khaleda Zia as they have sense of differentiating what is good or bad."
"BNP went inside of Jamaat tummy and for that BNP do march by the command of Jamaat which is crossed the tolerance limit of sensible leaders of BNP," Quamrul added.
Quamrul said Khaleda Zia should be made accused as the mastermind for any anarchy taking place anywhere in the country. BNP leaders are financing the ongoing subversive activities in the country and they should be sued too, he added.
He said the AL cannot hold any talks with terrorists. The polls would be held in due time.
The BNP-led alliance has been enforcing countrywide blockade and a series of general strikes for the last 22 days demanding interim polls under a non-partisan government.
Acts of sabotage across the country have taken at least 35 lives, with most of the victims coming under petrol bomb attacks.
Dhaka City AL Organising Secretary Shahe Alam Murad, member Hedayetul Islam Swapan, Krishak League leader MA Karim and Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote General Secretary Arun Sarkar Rana also spoke on the occasion.
