The 'Speedy Supply of Power and Energy (Special Provision) (Amendment) Bill, 2015' was passed in Parliament on Tuesday with extending four more years some provisions of the existing law as the construction of power plants for ensuring quick supply of power and energy in the country is yet to complete.
State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid Bipu proposed the House for passage the bill. The bill was passed through voice votes in the evening.
Earlier, the bill was sent to concerned parliamentary standing committee for scrutiny asking it to report back to Parliament by December 30.
With the passage of the amendment bill, some provisions of the Speedy Supply of Power and Energy (Special Provision) Act-2010 will remain effective till October 11, 2018.
