Our Correspondent SYLHET, Jan 25: The authorities of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) have decided to build up a Temple on the campus from Hindu students. The syndicate body of SUST has recently approved the decision to build up a prayer hall considering the demand of Hindu teachers and students on the campus. A committee led by Prof Narayan Saha, Head of the Forestry and Environmental Science department was formed to select the suitable location for setting up the Temple which will submit report very soon, sources concerned said. Earlier, Hindu teachers and students have been demanding a Temple on campus through memorandums and mass signing programs for last three years. Lipton Das, a Sociology department student, told The Daily Observer that they have been demanding a prayer hall on campus as Hindu students have to go to the outside of campus for prayers for not having any Temple. So the authority has taken the decision to set up a prayer hall considering their demand, he added. Proctor Prof Himadri Sekhar Roy hoped that the construction work of prayers hall will be started very soon. When connected, Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Aminul Haque Bhuyan told this correspondent that the construction work of Temple will be started very soon.
