KHULNA, Jan 25: New RAB Director General Benazir Ahmed has 'defended' his force over the allegations of extrajudicial killings, terming the accusations 'cheap propaganda'.
When his reaction was sought on the allegations of the BNP and some human-rights organisations over the recent incidents of 'fake encounters', he said, "It is a cheap propaganda. A particular section makes the propaganda describing it (gun battle) extrajudicial killing."
He was speaking to journalists at RAB-6 office in Khulna on Sunday.
"What is extrajudicial killing? Should the law enforcers remain a mute spectator while criminals commit crime? Why have the arms been issued to the law enforcers? Is it to play Hadudu?" Ahmed, who took over as RAB chief last month, asked.
Benzir said, "Identify of the informers will not be disclosed and informers will also got a reward of Tk 1, 50,000 for sharing information on 'planners' and 'organisers' of arson and crude bomb attacks.
A total of Tk 1 lakh will be given to a person for helping the law enforcers in arresting petrol bomb attackers red handed.
The RAB chief also said a total of Tk 25,000 reward is offered for helping arrest of the attackers from TV footages. If anyone help the elite force in arresting the crude bombs attackers red handed they would received the same amount.
?We will win very soon against terrorists, bombers and militants if people are with us?, he said, adding that anarchy already has stopped in many places across the country.
He also satisfied with overall law and order situation in Khulna and asked the RAB members that arms has been given us for ensuring safety of people lives, not for playing.
