Bangladesh national football team under the supervision of the Dutch head coach Lodewijk Darius de Kruif experienced a 3-1 win over the professional league champion Sk Jamal in their second practice match on Sunday.
Before the match on Sunday, Skipper Mamunul said that Kruif's return has created new hope in the team and now the Dutch man really proved the thing with the win.
For Sunday's win, prominent Bengal striker Jahid Hasan Ameli scored two while the third goal came after a own goal was netted by Jamal defender Didar. Meanwhile, Haitian striker Lionel scored the consolation goal for the Yellow side.
Earlier, on January 19, national team suffered a 2-0 defeat to Abahani in their first practice meet and after that disappointed BFF boss Kazi Salahuddin called all the boys at the BFF house. Mamunul in that time promised to Salahuddin of playing at least the semi-final of the Bangabandhu International Gold Cup. He said to BFF president, "Believe in us, we will come to you after confirming the semi-final."
Team's trustworthy mid-fielder Mamunul said in a press meet on Sunday at the BFF house, "We have been undergoing hard training for the last three months and we do not have any big injury problem in the team. The only thing we have to do is to perform well on the ground to get a good result."
According to Kruif, Malaysia will be the group favourite. Though they are sending the under-23 team in here, he idealised that the Malaysians will be playing well. Beside, Sri Lanka would be a challenge too. But coach said that his boys have faced the Lankans few months ago and this would not be a hard task to overcome them.
The tournament will kick off on January 29 with Bangladesh taking on Malaysia of the group-A at Sylhet Stadium.
