The Election Commission has been taking preparations to hold elections to North and South City Corporations of Dhaka.
EC secretary Sirajul Islam on Sunday wrote to finance and planning Ministry Senior Secretary Mahbub Ahmed to allocate Tk Tk 45 crore to hold the polls.
Local Government Division and EC secretaries said the dispute demarcating areas of two city corporations would go within two months. All preparations to hold the elections would be kept.
At the end of last year, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina instructed to hold the polls by January 2015, at that time, EC said it would not be able to complete the preparation within the stipulated time.
The new financial year would start from July. The EC requested for allocation of money to hold the election within this financial year.
EC officials said the updated voter list is going to be finalized by January 31. May and June are being considered as suitable time for holding polls.
