The government has decided to reopen popular online voice and message services Viber and Tango from early Monday after around an 18-hour closure.
Bangladesh Telecommunication and Regulatory Commission (BTRC)Secretary Sarowar Alam told Observer over telephone that the services may be active from 12:00am Monday.
Earlier, BTRC blockade Viber and Tango in phases since Saturday night. At first, the mobile phone operators were asked to carry out the order. Later, International Gateway operators were given the instruction.
The decision was taken following the order of the home ministry as a security measure amid countrywide blockade and strike.
