Chapainawabganj: District BNP has called a 48-hour hartal from Sunday protesting the killing of Chhatra Dal leader during 'gunfight' with Rapid Action Battalion.
District BNP president and former MP Shahjahan Miah said, they called the hartal for Sunday morning to Monday to protest against the killing of Matiur Rahman and also protesting vandalism and arson attack on their houses in the name of drive.
Earlier in the morning Matiur Rahman, 35, was killed during a 'gunfight' with the members of Rapid Action Battalion at Kansat of Shibganj upazila.
RAB suspect Matiur as the arsonist and an activist of Jamaat-e-Islami.
Shibganj upazila Chhatra Dal General Secretary Abdullah Al Faruk claimed Matiur to be the assistant president of the party's Shyampur unit.
