300 fruit trees felled in Natore

NATORE, Jan 10: Unknown miscreants allegedly felled at least three hundred fruit trees of a guava orchard at Bagatipara upazila of the district on Thursday night.
Police and locals said the victim Abdur Rahim is a landless man and a tea seller at Koichara village under Bagatipara upazila. He took a lease of three bighas of land and planted guava trees there. In this connection, he took loan of taka one lakh from private sources on the basis of an agreement for giving a profit of Tk 31,000 per year against the four-year contact. But the miscreants shattered his dream.
Hearing the news at early morning, he went to the garden and became senseless observing the situation. On information, police visited the spot.
Abdur Rahim informed he incurred loss of about Tk 8 lakh in this connection. At present he has nothing to repay his loan money.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Aminur Rahaman of Bagatiapara Model police station said a complaint has been lodged and investigation is going on to nab the involved in this regard.
