The private car of BNP chairperson’s adviser Sabihuddin Ahmed was torched by miscreants near Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan political office on Saturday night.

Witnesses said the miscreants set fire to the car at road-86 of the city posh area around 9pm.

Car driver Faruk Hossain said he parked the vehicle at the mouth of road-86 around 8:30pm after the BNP leader got down from it there. “Suddenly, a group of people came in three motorcycles and set the car afire after pouring petrol on it,” he said.

However, locals extinguished the fire with water before it caused any extensive damage to the car.

Sabihuddin was inside the BNP chief’s office during the arson attack.

He came to the BNP chairperson’s office in his car although a nationwide indefinite transport blockade enforced by his party-led 20-party alliance is underway.
