Holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi will be observed in the country today (Sunday) commemorating the birth anniversary of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) 1,442 years ago on this day of the month of Rabiul Awal with divine blessings for the mankind.
The Muslims across the country will join in special prayers and stage colourful street rallies to mark the day which is also the day of "Ofat (departure)" of the Prophet (PBUH).
Various religious, socio-political and cultural organisations have chalked out elaborate programmes in the capital and elsewhere in the country marking the day.
President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in separate messages on the occasion greeted the countrymen and the Muslims across the world.
In his message, President Abdul Hamid said the Almighty Allah sent Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) to this world as a blessing for the entire mankind.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in her message, expressed profound respect to the Prophet (PBUH) on the occasion of his birth and death anniversary.
With the advent of the holy Prophet, the entire mankind received guidance filled with welfare, human values and morality, she said.
The Prophet came to this world as a blessing and worked for establishing brotherhood, justice and equity-based society, the premier said adding that Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) was a universal divine messenger (Rahmatullil Al-Amin).
There are trails of justice, peace and progressiveness in the Prophet's ideals and the religion Islam, Sheikh Hasina said.
She expressed firm conviction that the proper practice of the code of life of the Prophet, who is 'Rahmatullil Al-Amin' and 'Uswatun Hasana', can ensure restoration of peace in the present conflicting world.
Meanwhile, opposition leader in the Jatiya Sangsad (parliament) Begum Rawshan Ershad and BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia also issued separate messages on the occasion of holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi (PBUH).
