GAIBANDHA: Islamia High School, located at the heart of Gaibandha town, celebrated its centenary on Wednesday through day-long programmes.
The District Administrator Syed Shams-ul-Alam Hiru attended the programmes as chief guest while former MP Waliur Rahman Reza and Mayor of Gaibandha Pourashava Shamsul Alam were present as special guests.
The programmes included a colourful rally, sports competition, cultural function and prize distribution.
Joint Convener Abdur Rashid Sarker, Chairman of the school managing committee Shah Sarwar Kabir and Head Teacher of the school M Ehsanul Kabir spoke on the occasion.
The administrator asked the students to be more serious and studious to acquire knowledge and to be worthy citizens of the country to face the challenges of the 21st
He also urged teachers to be sincere, devoted and more professional to turn educational institutions into knowledge acquiring centres and to produce more brilliant students through providing them with quality education to lead the country towards development.
