2015 signals new hope for nation

The nation is all set to welcome the New Year 2015 with new hopes while bidding adieu to eventful 2014.

The year 2014 will be remembered for different national and global issues. Verdicts have been pronounced in six cases of crimes against humanity, including the case against Jamaat chief Matiur Rahman Nizami.

The government managed to attract global attention particularly by promoting education for girls and women, eradicating poverty, raising living standard, health services and social safety net across the country and in ICT sector.

Bangladesh has won a number of elections such as Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), and International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

Country's economy strengthened a lot as foreign exchange reserves crossed $22-billion mark for the first time. Bangladesh set history in generating power and also announced building much talked about 'Padma Bridge' from its own resources.
