Tangail : Detectives Branch (DB) of Police, in a drive, arrested a nephew of Tangail -3 lawmaker Amanur Rahman Khan alongwith huge arms from a house at Akurtakurpara in the district town on Saturday afternoon.

Acting on a tip-off, the detectives raided the house at 3pm and nabbed Rezwan Khan Punom, son of Kutubuddin Khan Pilu, from a secret room where he was asleep keeping two youths outside for guarding, said DB OC Golam Mahfizur Rahman.  

Pilu is the maternal cousin of Amanur Rahman Khan Rana MP and Tangail poura mayor Shahidur Rahman Khan Mukti.

Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the youths fled the scene.

After searching Punom’s room and the adjacent rooms, police recovered one foreign made pistol, two 7.65 pistols, one 9mm pistol, 17 bullets, three Chinese axes, hammer and some lethal weapons,  and Yaba, ganja and foreign currencies.

A motorcycle without number plate was also seized from the house.
