Staff Correspondent Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), student wing of ruling Awami League, postponed its protest rally following the Bangladesh Nationalists Party's decision to cancel the proposed public meeting at Gazipur on Friday. BCL will not hold any protest rally in Gazipur in the greater interest of law and order in the area. The BNP-led 20-party alliance will enforce a dawn-to-dusk hartal in Gazipur district and stage demonstrations across the country on Saturday protesting restrictions on its rally where Khaleda Zia was scheduled to address. BCL was prepared for the Saturday's rally at Bhawal Badre Alam Government College ground but all preparations were foiled due to the district administration imposed Section 144. Gazipur district BCL General Secretary told The Daily Obsever, "As per the nature of the BNP movement, BCL will face their agitation programmes politically in the field." "It will not be tolerated if they create anarchy in the name of hartal in Gazipur," he added.
