CHITTAGONG, Dec 26: Dense fog and cold spell partially paralysed the life in Chittagong and its adjacent areas with massive disruption of air, water and road communications causing untold sufferings to thousands of people.
Jaker Hossain, Secretary of Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) said due to thick fog plying of all kinds of ships in port channel remained suspended since Thursday night to 12 noon of Friday.
The port authority was compelled to impose a ban on movements of as many as eight vessels to and from Chittagong owning to poor visibility.
Nur-e-Alam, Manager of Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport (CSAIA) said dense fog disrupted flight operations at the Airport on Friday. Officials of CSAIA told BSS that operations of domestic and international flights remained suspended till 11am.
Few domestic flights have either been rescheduled or delayed owing to dense fog, airport sources said.
However, flight operation and movement of vessels returned to normalcy at around 11 am today when the fog started to diminish. Met Officials said foggy weather will continue for next two to three days along the river basins and over a vast swathe of land.    ?BSS
