Ferry services on Shimulia-Kawrakandi, Daulatdia-Paturia routes resume

Ferry services on the Shimulia-Kawrakandi and Daulatdia-Paturia routes in the Padma river resumed after several hours’ of disruption on Friday morning.

Sirajul Haque, manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at Shimulia ghat, said ferry services on the Shimulia-Kawrakandi route remained cut off due to dense fog.

They kept suspended ferry services and plying of water vessels from 4am to 10:30am.

Ferry services on the important route resumed around 11am as fog started disappearing after the sunrise.

Eight ferries with a large number of vehicles and passengers were kept anchored at Shimulia and Kawrakandi ferry terminals.

On the other hand, ferry services on the Daulatdia-Paturia route also remain suspended for about five hours.

Salauddin, manager of BIWTC at Aricha, said ferry services as well as plying of water vessels came to a halt around 5am.

Eight ferries with a large number of vehicles and passengers were kept anchored at Daulatdia and five ferries at Paturia.
