A team of Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy from a house in capital's Shiddheshwari area on Friday morning.
Deputy Commissioner (Media) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Masudur Rahman said, a team of police arrested Gayeshwar in the morning, a day after the clash between Awami League and BNP in Bakshibazar area where several injured, including Awami League MP Chhabi Biswas.
Sources said, the arrests followed raids on the houses of Gayeshwar and BNP’s Dhaka city unit convener Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel on Thursday night.
Later, Gayeshwar was taken to DB office around 6:45am.
The detention comes a day after the clash at Bakshibazar area in the capital and ahead of BNP’s rally in Gazipur on Saturday.
