Feni : A college student drowned in the River Feni at Char Majlishpur in Sonagazi upazila on Tuesday.

Deceased Akif M Abu Horaira, 18, son of M Habibullah of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital, was a student of Dhaka residential Model College.

Police, quoting relatives, said Akif, who came here to attend the wedding reception of his friend’s brother, went to take a bath in the river with friends in the afternoon. At one stage, Akif drowned in the river.

Hearing his friends’ screams for help, local people rescued Akif and rushed to a local hospital where doctors declared him dead.
