The 16th convocation of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) was held on the IUB Bashundhara campus in the capital on Thursday.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, MP, conferred the degrees among the graduates. Dr A Majeed Khan, founder president of the IUB, was the convocation speaker.
A total of 1,163 students completed their courses from various departments of the university. Among them, 729 students achieved bachelor degrees and 434 masters.
 The IUB Alumni Association has awarded five students for their excellent performances in various fields.
Rashed Chowdhury, chairman of the board of trustees, the IUB, Saifur Rahman, chairman of the IUB founding trust, and Prof M Omar Rahman, vice chancellor of the university, spoke on the occasion.
