JESSORE, Dec 22: A dawn-to-dusk hartal, enforced by an 'action committee' demanding arrest of the killers of Oliar Rahman, councillor of Noapara municipality and also joint secretary of the Abhaynagar upazila unit of Awami League, was observed peacefully in Noapara municipality area on Monday.
In the morning, picketers set fire on tires on the Jessore-Khulna highway.
Most of the shops, schools and non-government offices remained closed and almost all modes of vehicles remained off the streets.
