At least two persons were killed and 25 others were injured in separate road accidents in two districts on Sunday.
LAXMIPUR: A worker was killed and 22 others injured in separate road accidents in the district on Sunday.
In Bhaberhat area of Sadar upazila, a worker was killed and two others injured when a tractor carrying firewood plunged into a roadside ditch as its driver lost control over the wheel around 8:30pm, police said quoting local people.
The deceased was Miraj, 20, son of Mosleh Uddin of Kamal Nagar upazila.
In another incident on the Laxmipur-Dhaka highway in Zadia area, a Laxmipur-bound bus from Feni collided head-on with a CNG-auto rickshaw in afternoon, leaving 20 passengers of both the vehicles injured. The injured were taken to Sadar Hospital.
Abul Kasem, officer-in-charge of Chandraganj highway police outpost, confirming the incident said that they have seized the bus.
DINAJPUR: A labourer was killed and three others were injured as a potato-laden truck overturned at Haripra area under Birganj upazila of the district on Sunday night at 8pm.
The deceased was identified as Md Faruque Hossain, 33, son of Tasir Uddin, resident of Dariapur village under Nijprara union in the upazila.
Local sources said that the truck (Dhaka ta-14-6567) turned turtle at the area as the driver lost control over wheels, leaving four persons injured critically on the spot.
The injured have been sent to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital in a critical condition. Later, Faruque died under treatment in the hospital.
