Magura: A suspected dacoit was killed in a gunfight with police at Mandartala area in Sadar upazila early Monday.

The deceased was identified as Uzzal Hossain, 37, son of Awal Hossain.

Acting on a tip-off, a patrol team of police conducted a drive in the area around 1:am.

Assistant superintendent of police Sudarshan Kumar Roy of Sadar Police Station said, sensing their presence, a gang of robbers opened fire at the patrol team.
 
In retaliation police also fire back which created a gunfight.

"Ujjal was caught in the line of fire and died"  police said.

Two other cops were also injured.

A pistol, four bullets, a saw and some other robbery equipments were seized from the spot.

A case was filed in this connection.
