Jessore, Dec 17: At least 10 people were injured as police swung into action to disperse a group of Awami League men who confined the local MP to a house in Bagharpara upazila on Wednesday.
As per the earlier announcement, Ranjit Roy, MP from Jessore-5 constituency and president of Bagharpara upazila Awami League, and other ruling party leaders went to Betalpara Bazar in the afternoon to hold the conference of the party's Jahurpur union unit.
However, the local party men chased them for trying to hold the union unit conference without forming the ward level committees, said witnesses.
Being chased, the ruling party MP took shelter in a nearby house. However, the angry activists kept him confined to the house for an hour.
On information, police rushed in and tried to disperse the Awami League men for rescuing the MP. But they resisted the law enforcers. ?UNB
