Habiganj road accident leaves 6 dead

Habiganj: Six people were killed and 10 others were injured in a road accident at Sutang area on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway on Tuesday morning.

Four of the deceased among six were identified as-- Nakul Bibi, 40, her daughter Ambia Khatun, 20, of Rahmatpur village in Baniachang upazila, Yusuf, 55, of Mrittika Tea Garden, and Ahmedul Haque, 60, of Barshijura in Moulvibazar district.

Officer-in-charge Md Ejajul Islam of Shayestaganj Police Station said, the accident took place around 7:30am when a truck rammed into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in the area. Later, the drivers of a jeep and tractor coming from opposite side lost control and ploughed through the accident-ridden truck and the auto-rickshaw, leaving two dead on the spot.

The injured 15 were admitted to Habiganj Adhunik Sadar Hospital where four others died.
