
"The government will implement all the recommendations for strengthening the apparel sector of the country as the country will reach number one position in apparel export across the world,", he said.
The minister made this comment while addressing at post-Dhaka Apparel Summit press conference, organized by Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) at its conference room in the capital.
Tofail Ahmed said the country will celebrate 50th anniversary of its independence in 2021 and ‘we expect the total output from the apparel sector would reach to around 50 billion US dollars by the year’.
Dhaka Apparel Summit, first of its kind in Bangladesh, held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center on 7-8 December 2014.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the summit at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka.
By now, Bangladesh is known across the globe as the maker of best and quality products. At this stage the country needs branding.
"The summit is aimed at branding of Bangladesh and drawing a road map to reach the export target of $50 billion," said BGMEA president Md Atiqul Islam in his address.
Presided over by BGMEA President Md Atiqul Islam, the press conference was also attended, among others, by 2nd vice-president of BGMEA SM Mannan Kochi, vice-presidents Shahidul Azim, Riaz Bin Mahmud, Siddiqur Rahman, Faruque Hasan, Dr Farhad Anwar Actor Afzal Hossain, Dr Towfique Ali, former vice-president Fazlul Azim and BGMEA board of directors.
