RAJSHAHI, Dec 11: Accused bus driver and his two helpers allegedly responsible for deaths of three Rajshahi Government College (RGC) female students got bail on Thursday.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court Judge Sharmin Akhter accepted their bail plea after they were presented before the court in the afternoon.
The three were identified as Abdul Baten, 45, and Imran Hossain, 27, bus driver and helper respectively of Islam Paribahan and Ejabul, 45, helper of Lucky Paribahan.
Sources concerned said that Motihar police arrested the trio from Shiroel Central Bus Stand here at around 7:00am following a case filed over the accident. Later, they were presented before the court at 1:30pm.
Earlier on Tuesday, the driver of Lucky Paribahan was also arrested from Meherchandi area. He also got bail from the court on Wednesday.
The teachers and students of RGC expressed their deep frustration over the bail within six hours of arrest and they demanded exemplary punishment to the killers. The three female RGC students Tania, 20, Sharmin, 21 and Sheema, 21, were killed and 30 more were injured in a head-on collision between two buses on the Dhaka-Rajshahi highway on Sunday.
