Veteran actor Khalilullah passes away

Veteran actor Khalilullah Khan Khalil passed away at Square Hospital in the capital on Sunday morning. He was 80.

The actor breathed his last around 10am at the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of the hospital.

The National Film Award winning actor left behind three sons, four daughters, a host of relatives, admirers and well-wishers to mourn his death.

Khalil's son Khaled Khan said, his father had been suffering from various diseases for a long time.

Namaz-e-janaza for the former president of Bangladesh Film Artistes' Association is scheduled to be held at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) around 3pm. He will be buried at the family graveyard at Salimullah road in capital's Mohammadpur.

Earlier on May 10, 2012, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took responsibility for the treatment of the ailing actor.

Khalil has been honoured with lifetime achievement award at the National Film Award, 2012.

Born on February 1, 1934 in Sylhet, Khalil started his career through theatre. He was a powerful actor both on silver and small screens.
