Sacked Minister Abdul Latif Siddique was admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) around 5pm on Saturday after he felt cardiac complications in Dhaka Central Jail.
Siddique was facing charges of hurting the countrymen's religious sentiment by making controversial remarks on Hajj and Tablig Jamaat.
He was feeling pain in his chest from this morning, physician of Dhaka Central Jail examined him and referred to admit to the BSMMU, Forman Ali, senior superintend of Dhaka Central Jail said.
The 77-year-old was admitted to the cardiology department, BSMMU Director Abdul Majid Bhuiyan told the Daily Observer.
"Prison authorities brought him to the hospital after he felt a pain in his chest," he said.
Expelled Presidium Member of the ruling Awami League, Siddique has been in prison since Nov 25 after he turned from the abroad.
A number of cases have been filed with different courts across the country and most of the courts issued arrest warrants against Siddique.
