The first meeting of Women in Engineering and Science-Bangladesh (WiES Bangladesh) was held on November 29 at Environment and Social Development Organization (ESDO).
WiES Bangladesh started its journey on June 2014 to involve women working in science and engineering field in one platform as well as to inspire women in these sectors by providing support and scholarships.
WiES Bangladesh follows the objectives and policy of International Network of Women Engineers and Scientists (INWES).
It focuses on creating career opportunity for women, fostering women's employability, providing a platform to advance education.
The programme was inaugurated by introductory speech of Siddika Sultana, president of WiES Bangladesh, where a presentation and a video presented by Pratitee Kamal and Jessica Clark respectively.
Later, there was an open discussion session where the participants shared their views and portrayed the reasons why there are fewer girls in engineering and science sectors.
The programme was concluded by the speech of Dr Shahriar Hossain, advisor of WiES Bangladesh.
