
"We have the plan to invest Tk 8 billion to expand our services," said Mashruf Habib, Managing Director of the airways, while addressing a press conference on the occasion of the 4th founding anniversary of the company at a city hotel on Saturday.
He said three Boeing 737-800s, each having 166 seats, and two Boeing 767-200s, each having 265 seats, would be incorporated in the fleet of the airways, which would increase its seat capacity by 93 per cent and the numbers of flights would reach to 700 in a month.
The company is introducing new flights on international routes like Nepal, Doha, Muscat, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Jeddah, Bahrain, Gaya of India and Malaysia, he added.
The company will also introduce flight on Dhaka-Nepal-Dhaka route by the next month.
The sister concern of Chittagong-based Habib Group, one of the largest business organisations, the Regent Airways started its journey in 2010 is now operating five aircraft on Singapore, Kualalumpur, Bangkok and Kolkata routes besides its domestic routes carrying nearly 8 lakh passengers.
Sam Issac, chief adviser of the company, told journalists that they were making investment for upgrading services, maintainance and repairing aircraft.
"This new investment will ensure more safety and comport for the passengers," he said.
He also disclosed that the expansion of services would create job opportunity for more one thousand Bangladeshis while the company has currently 700 workers and employees.
Erfhan Haque, head of sales said, the Regent Airways had become the best choice of the passengers in the past four years as they could ensure foolproof security apart from being success in maintaining the schedules of more than 97 percent flights.
The company, which initiated its journey on November 10 in 2010, has offered the passengers of five international routes a special discount on ticket prices marking the 4th founding anniversary.
The price of a ticket of Dhaka-Singapore-Dhaka route will be Tk 23,444, Dhaka-Bangkok-Dhaka at Tk 16,444, Dhaka-Kuala Lumpur-Dhaka at Tk 18,444, Dhaka-Kolkata-Dhaka at 7,444, and Chittagong-Bangkok-Chittagong at Tk 17,444 and Chittagong-Kolkata-Chittagong at Tk 9,444 under the offer.
The passengers will have to collect tickets by December 10 and use it by October 25, 2015 to avail the offer.
