Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured to resolve several outstanding issues including the Land Boundary Agreement (LBA) and Teesta water sharing issue with Bangladesh at the soonest.
The Indian leader renewed his assurance at a meeting on the sidelines with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Crowne Plaza Kathmandu during the 18th SAARC Summit on Wednesday afternoon.
Sheikh Hasina formally sought to know from Modi the progress of the LBA and Teesta water sharing issue, Foreign Secretary Shahidul Haque told journalists.
The Indian Prime Minister in response to Hasina's query stated that he is making strong efforts to resolve the two outstanding issues with Bangladesh quickly. "A consensus on these issues is being built in India," he remarked.
Modi also expressed his confidence to resolve these crucial issues with Bangladesh.
The Foreign Secretary also said a report on LBA will be submitted very shortly and it would be accepted. About the Teesta water sharing issue, he said more discussion will continue till it is resolved.
Shahidul Haque said the two leaders also reiterated their firm commitment to work together to fight terrorism.
