Hearing on the leave to appeal filed by BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia against the High Court (HC) order in connection with Zia Orphanage Trust graft case, started at the Appellate Division (AD) of the Supreme Court (SC) on Monday.
The five- member bench of the AD headed by Chief Justice Md. Muzammel Hossain stayed the hearing till today (Tuesday).
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam and Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) lawyer Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan were present at the court during the hearing. Dhaka's Special Judge Basudeb Roy on March 19, framed charges against former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia and others in connection with Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
A revision petition was filed with the HC challenging legality of framing charges against her and others on April 13 and the HC rejected the petition on April 23.
