Chittagong : Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation, Chittagong zone postponed the 24-hour transport strike giving an ultimatum of 2 months to press home their five-point demand.
The decision came from an emergency meeting led by Federation's Chittagong Zone president Mrinal Chowdhury.
Earlier on Saturday, the organisation called the strike on the 64 routes of five districts and 11 routes of the district town.
The demands include construction of separate terminals for different routes, issuance of appointment letters to the workers of the organisation, eviction of illegal vehicles, renovation of roads and bringing an end to police harassment.
The organisation also threatened to go for a tougher movement if the demands are not met.
