CHITTAGONG, Nov 15: The Bangladesh Road Transport Sramik Federation of Chittagong zone will observe 24-hour transport strike in all routes of five districts of greater Chittagong today (Sunday) to press home their five points demand.
A press release issued from the organisation signed by M Abdur Rahim, Assistant General Secretary of the organisation, said the 24-hour strike will begin from 6 am of Sunday that will end at 6 am of Monday next.
The movement of all vehicles in all the routes of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Bandarban, Khagrachhari, Rangamati districts will remained suspended during the strike period. But private transport will remain out of the jurisdiction of the strike.
The demands include: construction of terminal for different routes, issuance of appointment letters to the workers of the organisation, eviction of illegal vehicles, renovation of roads, stopping of police harassment and not to make the transport workers liable for road accident.
The press release also said that if their 5-point demands are not met they would go for greater movement to press their demand home.
