State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan on Saturday said the countrywide crackdown against the foreigners staying in the country illegally will continue.
"We have information that some foreign nationals staying illegally in the country are involved in various criminal activities like drug peddling, illegal VoIP business and currency forgery. The crackdown launched by the law enforcers against them will continue," he told UNB.
Plain-clothes police in their drives arrested 31 foreign nationals from different parts of the city early Friday on various charges, especially staying in the country without valid documents.
The Home Ministry is closely monitoring the activities of the foreigners, Asaduzzaman said, adding that the law enforcers will take prompt action against them if they are found involved in criminal activities. "A good number of foreigners involved in criminal activities had also been brought to justice in the past." ?UNB
