KOLKATA, Nov 12: Initiating a fresh attack on chief minister Mamata Banerjee, the BJP on Tuesday highlighted a Jamaat-Mamata-BNP 'quid pro quo' before the 2011 assembly polls, which ushered political change in Bengal, ending 34 years of the Left rule.
Siddharth Nath Singh, BJP national secretary, alleged that while Jamaat helped Trinamool Congress win seats in Bengal, the latter provided support to Jamaat and BNP against the ruling Awami League in Bangladesh.
"The information on quid pro quo is based on Bangladesh intelligence reports, which have been published in news reports of that country.
Before the 2011 polls there was a quid pro quo between Jamaat, BNP and Trinamool Congress," Singh claimed.
Singh also argued that out of 75 assembly constituencies in the border districts, Trinamool won 32 and Congress (then its alliance partner) won 13 - which makes it 45 seats out of 72.
Singh further asserted that Saradha chit fund money was routed to Jamaat controlled Islamic Bank in Bangladesh and later rerouted to India for subversive activities.
"Is it this quid pro quo, which forced Mamata Banerjee to drop out at the eleventh hour from the then prime minister Manmohan Singh's Dhaka visit?" Singh quipped.
Singh also highlighted that Abdul Hakim, accused in Burdwan blast case mentioned about making rocket launchers and testing in Beldanga, Murshidabad.
"Rockets launchers were tested and Mamata Banerjee, her police and administration knew nothing?' Singh questioned.
Singh also took a dig at the Bengal chief minister over her involvement in Kolkata Film on November 10 - a day commemorating recapture of Nandigram by CPI(M) in 2007.
