The Minister for Industries, Amir Hossain Amu, has warned that if tanneries at Hajaribagh in the city are not shifted by June next new plots allotted for the owners at Savar will be cancelled.
He said after expiry of the scheduled time tanneries will not be allowed to exist for a single day at Hazaribagh.
After a meeting held at the Ministry of Industries with the coordination committee of tannery  industry on Wednesday, the Industries Minister voiced such warning while speaking to journalists.
The Minister said, "Tannery industry will have to be shifted from Hazaribagh by June next. Tanneries will not be allowed to stay there showing excuses of a bank loan, or anything else.
The coordination committee leaders have demanded allotment of necessary land plots for shifting of tanneries to Savar's tannery industrial area.
