The Prime Minister will first go to the Chittagong Cantonment by a helicopter from Tejgaon Helipad in Dhaka, and award National Standard to 34, 36 and 38 East Bengal of Bangladesh Army alongside attending other programmes.
Later, in the afternoon, she will inaugurate the construction of Muradpur Flyover in Chittagong (Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury Flyover) before returning to the capital in the chopper.
The Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) decided to construct the flyover at an estimated cost of over Tk 4.62 billion. Of the total cost, Tk 4.373 billion will be borne by the government, while CDA will provide Tk 250 million. The mega-project is likely to be completed by June 2016.
The revised project was approved by ECNEC on October 1, 2013. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina laid the foundation stone of the revised Muradpur Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury Flyover on October 12, 2013.
Earlier, the CDA had decided to build a total of three separate overpasses at Muradpur, No. 2 Gate and GEC intersection - three strategic points of the city.
Later, the CDA scrapped the idea of building three separate overpasses, and decided to construct a 5.2 km four-lane flyover stretching from Muradpur to Lalkhan Bazar.
