The Supreme Court has taken away the CID from the investigation of Narayanganj's multiple murders by accepting a plea from the state. Detective Branch was probing the abduction and murders of Narayanganj Ward Councillor Nazrul Islam, local senior lawyer Chandan Sarkar and five others in April. But a High Court bench ordered the CID to probe the sensational murders, saying CID will do the shadow probe, while DB handles the main investigation. The state then moved the High Court on May 5 saying two law enforcing agencies cannot probe once incident. But the High Court rejected the plea while bringing a minor change in its order on Jul 10.
