BNP will observe ‘National Revolution and Solidarity Day’ on Friday, marking the civil-military ‘uprising’ in 1975.

Other political parties and different socio-cultural organisations will also observe the day from different historical perspectives.

On this day in 1975, amid political turmoil soldiers and civilians jointly freed then chief of army staff Ziaur Rahman from captivity in Dhaka cantonment, paving the way for Zia to come to power.

BNP and its associate bodies have chalked out a 10-day programme to observe the day in a befitting manner.

As part of the programmes, the party will hold a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan on Saturday. BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia will address the rally as the chief guest.

Besides, BNP will hoist party flags at its central office and chairperson’s Gulshan office in the city at 6:00am.

BNP leaders and activists will place wreaths at the grave of late president Ziaur Rahman at 10:00am. BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and its other top leaders will participate in the programme.

BNP’s all the units and associate bodies will also observe the day across the country with due respect.
